Lion’s Mane and ADHD: The Daily Rituals That Help Me Stay Focused – and Actually Work

Focus has never come easily to me. And in my line of work, that can be tricky.
I’ve spent more than twenty years in marketing and communications, two industries that thrive on urgency, creativity, and constant motion. Deadlines blur, messages multiply, and there’s always another campaign, another idea, another next thing. For someone like me who lives with ADHD, that pace can be both exhilarating and exhausting.
Over time, I’ve learned that I can’t force focus. I have to build it. And the best way I’ve found to do that is through intentionally slowing down… through rituals.
My brain usually starts to spin in ten directions at once right about mid-morning… the morning race to catch up and get ahead for the day gets to me!. I’ve started to step away from my laptop, grab a cold can of our Hibiscus Mushroom Infused Adaptogenic Sparkling Water, and reset for a few quiet minutes, and I’ve found it to be my new favorite thing.
It’s focus in a can – bright, tart, and floral with just enough grounding sweetness, and the real hero here is Lion’s Mane. The Lion’s Mane functional mushroom is a key ingredient in our Hibiscus blend and one of my go-to functional supports for clarity and focus
Why Lion’s Mane?
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is known for supporting cognitive health, focus, and memory – all the things my brain tends to scatter when I’m deep in project mode.
Studies have shown that there are compounds in Lion’s Mane that can help stimulate the growth of new neurons and support neural communication, which may improve concentration, creativity, and mental stamina.
For people like me with ADHD, that’s particularly meaningful. Yes, research is still ongoing, but early studies and personal stories all suggest that Lion’s Mane may help enhance attention, working memory, and overall mental organization. The exact areas where many of us struggle most.
And I absolutely notice the difference. It’s not a jolt of energy, but what I call “productive calm.” It’s the feeling of being in the zone. Creative but centered. Focused but not frantic.
My Hibiscus Lion's Mane Ritual
Here’s what my daily Hibiscus Ritual looks like when things start to spin and my mind starts drifting in 10 different directions:
- Step away from my desk – A short break helps reset my focus loop.
- Crack open the can – That first fizz of carbonation is my cue to breathe.
- Take three deep breaths – One for my body, one for my brain, and one for gratitude.
- Sip slowly – The tart hibiscus and subtle floral notes remind me to be fully present.
Ten minutes later, I’m back. Calmer, sharper, and ready to take on whatever the day throws at me.
A Daily Reminder
Working in marketing and communications means living in constant motion. Ideas, emails, calls – they all come fast, and that’s part of what I love about my work. But I’ve learned that the only way to thrive in that kind of chaos is to create intentional pauses.
ADHD doesn’t define me. It just means I have to be strategic about how I work, focus, and recharge. My Hibiscus Ritual isn’t about fixing my attention. It’s about honoring how my brain works best.
That’s the beauty of rituals like this one. They don’t have to be complicated. Just consistent. Just yours.
So the next time you feel your focus fraying, take a minute to reset. Step outside. Breathe. Sip. And remember that small rituals can lead to big balance!
